Physical Fitness Improves Mental Fitness

It is shown that physical fitness, specifically a high aerobic capacity, improves cognitive flexibility. It is uncertain whether it is the enjoyment of exercise or the actual physical benefits from it, or both, that improves cognitive function. This was tested by rats. 23 strains of rat generations were tested, some were natural runners, others were not. The ones who could run more usually had a higher speed of finishing the intelligence tests as well. This study shows how important physical exercise is, not only for the body, but for the brain.
