Valentines is a holiday that is celebrated each year on February 14th. It’s a day where candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones. It’s just a day of romance, where they celebrate the love for each other. It is not a public holiday, it’s more of just for couples themselves a rather than everyone. Governments offices, stores, schools and other places are still open and do not close down for this day. Public transit systems run on their regular schedule. It is however a very popular date for weddings.
Valentine's Day symbols are hearts, mostly in reds and pinks, and pictures or models of Cupid. Cupid is usually showed as a small winged figure with a bow and arrow. In mythology, he uses his arrow to strike the hearts of people. People who have fallen in love are sometimes said to be 'struck by Cupid's arrow. Other symbols of Valentine's Day are the gifts of flowers, chocolate, red roses and lingerie that couples usually give each.
Some people though do not like Valentine’s Day. They could not like it from a past relationship, or maybe they just do not have any special someone to share the day with. For those who hate Valentine’s Day are lonely and can get depressed. Either that or they think that Valentine’s Day is just a day where places can get money. Although that seems true because guys do not need a day to celebrate love with their lady, they should show them love every day.
